It’s been a strange year and that’s probably the biggest understatement I could make. But when Shea told me she would like to go to the beach for her senior dance session, I knew exactly the location to advise. My family has always loved the beaches at Rye, NH and they never disappoint. One advantage of the year 2020 is that it meant the beach was perfectly quiet on the mid-week evening we chose. It had been a cloudy and foreboding day until late afternoon, when the sun decided it would peek out from behind the clouds. This gave us the perfect evening light for her beach senior dance session.

I’ve known Shea since she was knee-high to a grasshopper and in the preschool ballet class doing rollovers in the yearly Ellen’s School of Dance recital. It was my pleasure to take her headshots for her competition season a couple of years prior and my absolute honor to be chosen as her photographer of choice for these important senior images.

Her family chose their images from this beach senior dance session over a virtual meeting and put their faith in me to provide them with amazing heirloom products. Shea now has a gorgeous Italian-made album filled with her favorite images from the session; mom and dad will be hanging an amazing gallery wrap canvas and beautiful mounted print on their walls.

I wish you all the most amazing things as you enjoy your senior year and set your sights on your future. Remember to keep dancing always as you are amazing and beautiful. You bring us so much joy to watch you dance. You embody beauty both inside and out. Good luck sweet girl and remember how much you are loved.

It was a lovely summer evening when Cassidy met me in the Manchester NH mill yard for her urban teen ballet session. I was absolutely honored for the chance to work with this talented dancer – not only because we’d been planning this session for a number months, but also because dance is also one of my passions. I started learning to dance from the age of three. Coincidentally enough, I was trained in Scotland in the same ballet method as Cassidy currently trains. One of our local Londonderry dance schools, where Cassidy attends, teaches the Royal Academy of Dance method.

As I am also a ballet dancer, I am able to ensure that the poses in her urban teen ballet session are technically accurate. In addition, I was able to communicate with and direct her using terminology of directions and positions she understands. The end result, I think you will agree, is pure magic!

The location we chose for the session offered so much variety. We were able to use everything from the Merrimack River, the historic red brick mill buildings, old metal machinery and the street. There were so many fantastic and varied images from which to choose their print products; Cassidy and her mom decided upon a triptych of images and a beautiful Italian heirloom album. I can’t wait for delivery day to see their eyes light up as they unwrap their prints.

Ballet dancers are not only beautifully graceful, but incredibly strong! They suffer with so much pain for their art – and it is beautiful art indeed!
